Nine-day Novena with St. Anthony of the Desert Day Five

“Give ear to my words, O Lord;
give heed to my groaning.
Hearken to the sound of my cry,
my King and my God,
for to thee do I pray.
O Lord, in the morning thou dost hear my voice;
in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for thee, and watch.”
Psalm 5:1-3
“The land of Zeb′ulun and the land of Naph′tali,
toward the sea, across the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles—
the people who sat in darkness
have seen a great light,
and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death
light has dawned.”
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Matthew 4:15-17
Today’s Meditation
When we suffer in this life, we cry out to God. “Save us O God, forgive us our sins”, only when we suffer, that God give us the graces to reach out to him to pray deeply. Prayer is the best way to communicate with him. We either choose to allow suffering to crush us, or we take that suffering to reach a higher level of holiness.
(Pray for your Personal Intention Here)
Say One Our Father, Three Hail Mary and One Glory Be, to Honor the Most Holy Trinity and asking God to delivery you of whatever is preventing you from living a higher level of Holiness.
Prayer
Jesus, you accepted the wrath of God and open not your mouth as you went to your death on the cross. You unselfishly offered yourself as a most perfect sacrifice to open the gates of Heaven. I beg you Jesus, send the Holy Spirit to open my heart that I may listen and obey your command and do your most perfect will in this life. I pray that I may also join you on the cross. For it is better to Suffer now then to burn eternally in Hell away from you because of my foolishness.
St. Anthony, intercede for us. Ask Almighty God for the mercy to come upon our souls to reach out to him. Let us offer gifts of thanksgiving when prayers are answered. Pray for us.
