meditation 12/30/18

Today’s Gospel reading from the Evangelist Luke, he writes about the Holy Family attending the traditional Jewish custom of Passover. After the time was finished, they were heading home, and they notice that their son, Jesus was not with them. After three days of searching, they found him with the teachers and elders in the temple. He was listening and asking them questions. Luke 2: 48-49 “And when they sawhim they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and 1 have been looking for you anxiously.” And he said to them, “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that 1 must be in my Father’s house?” Seems like a strange answer that Jesus would give to his parents, who were worried sick. His parents worried about him, just as if anyone of you would with your children. Jesus, even though he was twelve years old understood more deeply how important a closer relationship with God is. We all want to have that deeper relationship with God. Like Jesus, we must look for God. Our hearts yearn for God. We long to be loved and to feel special. We have built in this desire to have a connection with God. Jesus, who is the second person of the Most Holy Trinity, wanted to spend that time with God the Father. Though we will never fully understand how three distinct persons is One God, we do know that Holy Mother Church teaches that because of this Sacred Love, is how we came into existence. Jesus, who is God made man, was obedient to his parents and followed them and listened to them. Jesus Christ is showing us how to be obedient and to follow the good examples of our parents. We must follow the example of Christ. Who better to learn how to be holy than from the Son of God himself. Jesus’s entire life is about doing the Father’s will. He is obedient to his father, even to death on the cross. Obedience help to overcome our inner passion. It helps to teach us on what matters most. The only thing that should matter most in our earthly existence is to follow the ways of God. Let us always listen to God the Father and bring him praise and honor and glory. Let us imitate Jesus and go to our place of sacred worship and give praise to God. Let us learn about God through holy scripture and offer prayers and thanksgiving to God. 1’d learns from God rather than any human. 1 because God is perfect and want to be closer to the Creator every day of my life.

God Bless,

Aaron JP
