Lenten Reflection

psalm 1

Br. Anthony Paul of the Holy Wounds of Jesus | Psalm Reflection | 02/22/23

God rewards the righteous, he punishes the sinner!

1 Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the chair of pestilence.

God desires every person to be with him in heaven! That is the most important mission that we have in this existence. The world, the flesh, and the devil will try and influence you to embrace the darkest desire, full fill the hidden passions, and thus, send yourself into the chambers of Hell! The one that refuses his body by fasting and praying to the Lord of Host, will truly save himself. The commandment of God is our lifeline to reach heaven. The chair of the pestilence is the demonic throne that Satan himself encourages every human being to sit on. This is a direct challenge to the Authority of God, by following the same path that Satan tried before the creation of man[1].

2 But his will is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he shall meditate day and night.

The Word Himself is Spirit and life[2], Christ was sent by God the Father to fulfill all righteousness and to declare that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. The law of God must not only be read, not only to be embraced but to truly live! What does it mean to live on the law of God? It means to humble and surrender everything to God. When I mean everything, my brother and sisters, I mean everything!

3 And he shall be like a tree which is planted near the running waters, which shall bring forth its fruit, in due season. And his leaf shall not fall off: and all whatsoever he shall do shall prosper.

When one allows God room in his heart and mind, God himself refreshes the soul! He bathes it with his Mercy and his graces. The more you devoted your heart, notice I said “heart”. What I mean by this is internally surrendering your thought, feelings, and action for the love of God. One can only achieve this gift through true humility. For as it is written in sacred scripture “Proverbs 22:3-5 A prudent man sees danger and hides himself;
    but the simple go on, and suffer for it. The reward for humility and fear of the Lord
    is riches and honor and life. Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse;
    he who guards himself will keep far from them.”

4 Not so the wicked, not so: but like the dust, which the wind driveth from the face of the earth.

The falsehood of the devil is that he promises his follower that his kingdom will rein and overthrow God’s kingdom. This is utterly false[3]. The man who does evil is just like the fig tree that Jesus himself cursed and it immediately dried up. No money, power, or dark ambition will last in the presence of Almighty God. God will grant every man what he deserves, and his Justice will be perfect.[4]

5 Therefore the wicked shall not rise again in judgment: nor sinners in the council of the just.

11 The wisdom of a humble man will lift up his head,
    and will seat him among the great.

Do not praise a man for his good looks,
    nor loathe a man because of his appearance.
The bee is small among flying creatures,
    but her product is the best of sweet things.
Do not boast about wearing fine clothes,
    nor exalt yourself in the day that you are honored;
for the works of the Lord are wonderful,
    and his works are concealed from men.
Many kings have had to sit on the ground,
    but one who was never thought of has worn a crown.
Many rulers have been greatly disgraced,
    and illustrious men have been handed over to others.[5]

6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the just: and the way of the wicked shall perish.

God sees the heart of every living person on the face of this earth. He will not leave any stone unturned and his wrath upon the wicked will be swift and fierce.[6] The devil, his demons, the antichrist, and all the enemies of God and those who oppose him will be thrown in the lake of fire to be burned and tortured forever. You may try to escape the wrath of God, but you only putting away the inevitable, because God is just and he will not be mocked. Take your time now to prepare your eternal souls.
