The Wolves of the devil BASIC DEMONOLOGY Aaron Hackett | Theology | 04/13/2019

Warning: This topic is not meant for children under the age of reasoning. It is up to the parent’s discretion to allow their children to understand this topic. Because this topic is heavy and can be disturbing, let us pray to the Holy Trinity for protection and be covered by the Mantle of Mother Mary.

Prayer against Evil

Spirit of our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Most Holy Trinity, descend upon me. Please purify me, mold me, fill me with yourself, and use me. Banish all the forces of evil from me; destroy them, vanquish them so that I can be healthy and do good deeds.

Banish from me all curses, hexes, spells, witchcraft, black magic, demonic assignments, malefice and the evil eye; diabolic infestations, oppressions, possessions; all that is evil and sinful; jealousy, treachery, envy; all physical, psychological, moral, spiritual and diabolical ailments; as well as all enticing spirits, deaf, dumb, blind, mute and sleeping spirits, new-age spirits, occult spirits, religious spirits, antichrist spirits, and any other spirits of death and darkness.

I command and bid all the powers who molest me—by the power of God Almighty, in the name of Jesus Christ my Savior—to leave me forever, and to be consigned into the everlasting lake of fire, that they may never again touch me or any other creature in the entire world. Amen.

We begin this topic in the Name of the Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.

Brothers and Sisters, as we come close to the end of our 40 days of fasting and prayer, let us become aware of the enemy that is around us. We shall look at the writing of the Prophet Isaiah concerning the devil. “How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will make myself like the Most High.’ But you are brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the Pit.”  The devil was originally created as a Seraphim angel. If you remember the basic structure of Angels from my last blog, this rank is the very first one that is close to the throne of Almighty God. He was created as the most beautiful of all the Angels. He was given power and reasonability. There is a legend that he was very gifted with music, because he used to play before God himself. (This part is relevant, because as music is now used as a “tool” to influence the young in a negative way.) When God finished creating the angels of heaven, it was revealed to them the plan to create Man in the image and likeness of God, that the Second Person of the Most Holy Trinity will come in the form of a man and that he was going to create a special woman, Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ. The angels were instructed that they will serve man, they will Worship the Son of God made man, and honor this most humble woman. Lucifer, rebelled at the idea and told God that “he will not serve”! He will not serve this weak creation of God; he will not serve Jesus Christ and he will not serve this woman who was chosen to carry Jesus. He was able to convince one-third of heaven and that rebelled against God. A lower angel from the bottom rank, Saint Michael challenge this rebellious cry and said, “Who is like God?” Meaning, how dare you challenge the Infinite Creator of the entire universe.  After they were thrown out of heaven and sent to the abyss, God created the known world and we begin our life when God created Adam and Eve in the garden.  Behind the disobedient choice of our first parents lurks a seductive voice, opposed to God, which makes them fall into death out of envy. Scripture and the Church’s Tradition see in this being a fallen angel, called “Satan” or the “devil”. The Church teaches that Satan was at first a good angel, made by God: “The devil and the other demons were indeed created naturally good by God, but they became evil by their own doing.”

So, to understand what happened, even though satan was thrown out of heaven with the rebellious angels, he maintains all his gifts and powers. Just as the same structure was created by God in how the angels would function, the hierarchy of hell follows the same way. The more powerful demons are the fallen seraphim and cherubim angels and the lower ranking one are the minor fallen angels. Because the devil wants to “mimic” God, he tries and influence the fallen of man and to be worshiped in place of God. “Scripture speaks of a sin of these angels. This “fall” consists in the free choice of these created spirits, who radically and irrevocably rejected God and his reign. We find a reflection of that rebellion in the tempter’s words to our first parents: “You will be like God.” The devil “has sinned from the beginning”; he is “a liar and the father of lies”. The devil was on a mission to ruin the creation of God. If you read a passage from the Book of Genesis, we see this evil being working hard to stop the lineage of Jesus, by trying to corrupt the seed of man. “The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown. The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the ground, man and beast and creeping things and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.”  But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.”  There is a book that explains the topic of demonology very well by, Dr. Dennis G Lindsay D.Min called “Giants, Fallen Angels and the return of the Nephilim” I highly recommend reading this book, I can’t do any justice in my blog based on the deep research that Dr. Lindsay says on this topic. The Lord Almighty God had to send the flood because the blood of man was mingled with the spirits of demons. The wickedness spread so wide and so quickly, Noah was the only family line that wasn’t “corrupted by this evil.
